Been a great servant for us, but if I'm honest I don't care which one he ends up at, he'll just be an ex-blue like all the rest.

Spurs and Sunderland are the latest two.

Message to any journos - only another 14 to invent, although even the Star may not bother with United or Chelsea.

I realise there's only me contributing to this thread, but I think it's funny so humour me. It shows the idiocy of the English press and why I never believe anything or anyone until something actually happens, no matter how well placed their "sources" may be.

Portsmouth today. 12 left.

"Portsmouth move for Man City defender Dunne
tribalfootball.com - May 23, 2008

Portsmouth have made a move for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne.

The Republic of Ireland stalwart will quit City this summer, with Tottenham believed to be his likely destination but Harry Redknapp wants to persuade him to join Portsmouth. Newcastle and Sunderland are also interested. "

Today he's "on the verge" again of moving to Spurs. He's been "on the verge" more times this close season than an old Austin Allegro.

Middlesbrough can also be added to the invented list.

I'm not sure what Blackburn have done to upset the journos, but that's now every club bar them from 6th to 13th, plus Arsenal. Even pissed up wasters red top journos won't link him with Liverpool, Chelsea, manu or the bottom six, so I'm going to go for a "shock return to Everton" story by the weekend.

"According to a team-mate of Dunne's...."

Who then ran away pointing and laughing, while his mates were heard to comment "You should have said Juventus".

I don't know why but I still have this sneaking suspicion that Dunnie is not going anywhere and will continue as captain next season. His contract negotiations were suspended and probably won''t resume until our new manager, chairman and possible Director of Football have all arrived and had time to look at all the issues of contracts and squad. Of all the players at the club, Dunnie is the least likely to have been unsettled by the managerial situation after already seeing off three managers before Sven arrived who all had a bigger influence over his career than Sven has had. His agent is clearly in overdrive leaking stories to the media every day to keep his name up there in case he doesn't sign a new deal. Rumours of other clubs' interest are also useful ammunition to help the contract negotiations too.

Knowing me, I am probably completely wrong and he will be off to Stoke tomorrow but let's see!

Assuming you're right H, the worry then becomes whether Dunne's agent plants the story that if he doesn't agree to a move soon other clubs will chase other targets and he'll lose the opportunity of a transfer.
We face a similar issue with the manager as nobody will commit to City while the Chels are looking for another fall guy.

Latest rumour...
Dunne to erm... stay at Manchester City.
He''s singing Lezzers praises and saying he'd like to work under him - as it were.

Psssstttt... I don't think he was ever going anyway.... keep it quiet, though, it doesn't fit in with the current redtop inspired City Supporter whingefest.
