SSN have him at Carrington for a medical...I suppose Lezzoh doesn't need to be there for that so could be true. If he signs then I hope Lezzoh et al can shake him out of his Chelsea stupor, the old SWP would be very welcome indeed.

Shaun Wright-Phillips is set for a medical at Manchester City on Thursday, skysports.com understands.

The England international knows he is on the fringes of the first-team at Stamford Bridge and coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has hinted he would be willing to let him leave.

Aston Villa, Newcastle and Portsmouth all made enquiries this summer - but it is Everton and his former club City who have emerged as front-runners.

Now City are believed to have agreed terms on a deal worth close to £9million.

Wright-Phillips is due for a medical at City's Carrington training complex ahead of a possible move - although he will not be able to meet boss Mark Hughes, as he and his squad are in Denmark ahead of their Uefa Cup clash with FC Midtjylland on Thursday.

26-year-old Wright-Phillips played over 150 games for City before leaving the club in 2005 when Chelsea paid £21million for his signature.

I found it interesting that when I got up this morning (afternoon GMT) there were two seperate stories on SkySports.com saying basically there was no way SWP would be joining us and shauny saying he's very happy in london and won't be coming to City or everton etc etc but when I got home from work these stories had been removed from the site to be replaced with the "SWP to have his medical tomoz" and "Lez doesn't know either way cos he's in Denmark"ones. I suppose that's a positive sign. I'm in the can't wait, fingers crossed camp that it happens as I'm suire most will be. Just what we need...

Apparently Wayne Lindsay, as SWP's agent, said SWP was going nowhere.

Except Wayne Lindsay hasn't been SWP's agent for ages.

Nah...booooo, you know it makes sense ;)

It'll be a bit annoying if we miss out on him because of the bunny some "fans" gave him last season...not that the tw@ts would stand up and say they booed him last season was he to join us, oh no never happened that!
