RIP Sir Robert William Robson CBE
« on: 31 July 2009, 09:21:52 PM »

Abiding memory for me will be his quiet, but firm approach when dealing with the media as England manager. Never seemed to lose his temper in public, but commanded the respect of his players and most of the footballing world.

I'm very sad he's gone. With him has gone a lot of the spirit of football as a sport as well as a quiet dignity combined with an almost boyish passion. Few people will be missed as much as him.

Quite sad.

Adored in the Toon, respected almost universally. An honest football man who loved the game.

Cheers Bobby.

Edit: I know he was unwell anyway but it must have hurt him something bloody awful to see them go down.

Good football man, genuinely modest and without malice. We will miss him.In heaven, I will want to take issue with him for only one thing. "Why oh why, Bob , did you give the world Kieron Dyer?"

Proper old school football fella, one of the last few "gents" out there and the game is poorer now that he's gone...
